Job Description & Details:

The Development Authority of Wilkinson County (DAWC) is seeking a highly qualified candidate with both a technical expertise and passion for community-centered innovation to serve as its Executive Director. DAWC was established by the Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners in 1968 to encourage economic activity in and adjacent to the County, strengthen the tax base, provide employment for residents, and raise the standard of living and quality of life. The Executive Director will represent the DAWC to community and economic interests, supporting a growing job market and opportunities for entrepreneurial investment. Responsibilities The ideal candidate for the Executive Director position has comprehensive knowledge of economic development strategies, land use, business trends, and community services. A successful candidate will value community needs and have excellent leadership skills necessary to build networks in diverse economic settings. Special responsibilities include grant applications, website and social media management, organizing regular public meetings, event coordination and database preparation. Minimum Qualifications The Executive Director for the Development Authority should possess a level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economic Development, Marketing, or a closely related field. Progressively responsible experience in community and economic development or other closely related sectors of work may be substitutable for higher education.
