Hello GEDA Members, Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the GEDA March monthly luncheon, scheduled for this Monday, March 16th, tentatively to June 15th, the third Monday of that month. It would still be held at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, here in Atlanta. There are several reasons that we have made this decision. The Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is at the heart of the matter, for sure. We want our members to be safe and not put themselves in any potential harm by coming in contact with others in a large-crowd environment, where potentially they might contract the COVID-19. The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) now has a new policy that also aided in us arriving at this decision. GDEcD has said that if anyone feels uncomfortable attending any conference, function or meeting (even local) on behalf of GDEcD, they do not need to do so. Also, GDEcD has another policy that personal guests should not come to the GDEcD offices until further notice. Essential business meetings may still be conducted. This decision was not made lightly, and we hate that we won’t be meeting this Monday, but we are coming down on the side of the health and wellness of our members. Here are some good resource links:
Also, there are several ways to protect yourself and others. Good hygiene is an important first step. Wash your hands thoroughly and often with soap or alcohol-based sanitizer frequently, cover your mouth and nose if you cough or sneeze, and avoid touching your face. Recommended handwashing routines can be found here. Cleaning shared surfaces in your office spaces (desks, keyboards, telephones, door knobs, etc.) is your best protection. If you are sick, please stay home and don’t infect others. Let us know if you have any questions. Stay safe and be well! Kind regards, Chris Pumphrey GEDA 2020 Chair and Kevin Shea GEDA President |
