Northeast Georgia Good News Networking

This is a networking event open to anyone in the northeast Georgia area to share the good news that is happening in their area of northeast Georgia. Economic development professionals from the state, region and county levels, development authority members, county commissioners, city council members, real estate brokers and agents, and anyone who is interested in hearing about positive economic development work. The first hour is a networking opportunity to meet new people and catch up with old acquaintances. The informal sharing of information is open to whoever wants to speak. Remember, we hear enough depressing news, we only allow good news to be shared. Lunch will be on your own and the Chateau Elan restaurants are a good place to talk with the new friends you made that morning.

Intrigued by rising gasoline prices in spring 2008, Christopher Steiner conceived of the concept for $20 Per Gallon when he wondered, simply, how will our lives change in a future of higher gas prices?

A civil engineer and a staff writer at Forbes who regularly reports on energy, technology and innovative entrepreneurs, Steiner researched the question. His examination roamed from Manhattan tunnels to desert plane graveyards to organic farm fields and manifested in this book, which breaks down our future and its coming changes in terms of dollars per gallon.

Meet the Brokers!

This event will be held in the Greystone Building at Piedmont Park.

And you thought the June luncheon was spectacular ... just wait until you see what we have in store for August. (Yes, that means we will not have a program in July.) Projects today come from all directions and GEDA understands the unique challenges that can present. Where do you market? To whom do you market? Companies do their own searches; some hire consultants (like we saw at our June luncheon); and now real estate brokers are getting more and more involved in economic development.

That is why we are hosting a "Meet the Brokers" event in August. Some of our members may not be as familiar with the brokerage community as with some others. And quite frankly, some brokers may not be as familiar with all of the communities in Georgia. GEDA Leadership felt that this was the right time to bring everyone together for a "Get to Know Ya" luncheon. So, mark your calendars for August 23rd - and register online today!

But wait, there's more! Because it will probably be very hot in August and because football season is right around the corner, we would like to invite everyone to lose the suits and ties and wear your favorite team's colors to the luncheon! High school, college, professional, arena ... pick a favorite team and wear their colors to the luncheon. And to further that great, laid-back atmosphere, our luncheon will be catered by The Varsity! (Note: this is a BYOA event. Bring Your Own Antacid.) We look forward to seeing you in August!
