Economic Development 2010: The Road Ahead

Where are we going?  What changes should we, as Georgia economic developers, expect in the months and years to come?  There is a great deal of uncertainty right now: we just don't know what will come next.

We are recovering from this hopefully once-in-a-lifetime recession.  But how long will the recovery take?  Will we ever be back to where we were before?  If so - when?  If not - what is the "new normal"?  How should Georgia and our communities position themselves to be ready for the recovery once it is in full swing?

Who will the next Governor of Georgia be?  What changes will that bring to how we do business?  There are so many pivotal elections around Georgia and the country this November.  It is difficult to tell what the political landscape will be like next year - both in Atlanta and Washington

So many questions - and we are going to attempt to find the answers!  We have Jeffrey Rosensweig, Georgia's own "Global Guru" to answer questions about the economy.  Dr. Rosensweig is Professor of International Finance and Director of the Global Perspectives Program at Emory University's Goizueta Business School.  He has spoken to GEDA several times in the past and has always been a crowd favorite.

And, keeping with GEDA tradition, we will invite the final two gubernatorial candidates to address the Annual Conference attendees as well.  For the past several elections, we have had the privilege to welcome both candidates to Savannah to share their ideas and feelings about economic development.  This will be a GREAT opportunity to hear directly from the two candidates to see where they stand on the issues most important to us.

There is so much more in store for this Annual Conference - but it's easiest to say - you can't miss it.  A program like this only comes around once every so often.  Come to Savannah and learn what the Road Ahead looks like ... and maybe where the speed bumps and detours might be.
